This also helps snag and smooth any weird bits like a single layer that got a bit wonky. ![]() Then I'll take a razor blade, the disposable rectangle ones, and keeping it perpendicular to the surface drag it over the entire print to get rid of blobs and zits, or any odd strings. ![]() I like to start with the lowest layer settings I can, to get a head start. I use PETG for any prints I want to finish. It really comes down to the time you can put into it. Bed temps go to 60/100C and hold lock steady no problem. But if I set to 255, it'll rocket past that and sit at 250 and bounce. Setting it to 165 will hover at 160 and bounce, fail. Strange thing is it does this at any temp over 150C. It'll shoot up to 165/255/etc of what I set it too, it'll drop 10C and then fight to make it back, like the PID is struggling to make and hold the target temp, before the Runaway kicks in and kills the machine. Watching the temps it seems to bounce off the desired temp. Played with the Watchdog variables to try and give it more time/wider band to hit target temp. Therm is connected directly to the Ramps now. Bypassed the carriage board that takes all the wires into a single Cat5 cable. Started from scratch with fresh Marlin, rebuilt it all and reflashed Made sure the upgraded parts reflected in the firmware (Therm 11) Upgraded thermistor and heater cartridge to 40W version Replaced the stock hotend with a Mosquito Hotend, hoping it would help, but always wanted one anyways. On the stock hotend I was printing ABS pretty damn good for a while, then the errors started happening. Im using the Marlin distro that was released for the machine, with the stock Ramps board. ![]() Thermal Runaway errors started preventing any sort of printing. Then it all spiralled downhill some months ago. So, FolgerTech FT6, never quite ran great, but usuable. Hey ya'll, ive about had it with this machine but I'm determined to conquer it. ![]()
